14:11:44 Deniil Will WaitTOF() work in OS4-upd4?
14:11:53 Deniil it stopped working in upd3
14:11:55 Belxjander Deniil: good question
14:16:22 Deniil Belxjander: does that mean it doesn't work in the current beta?
14:16:27 hnl_dk have You told anyone that it is not working?
14:16:45 Deniil On AW.net some time ago I believe..

14:23:23 number6 Well. it's in the scroll buffer. I will try to "point" people to your comment while I am here anyway.

14:26:47 number6 OK. Post your contact info here...I will "save" the scroll buffer and use it later to "cut & paste" this part of the buffer back into this channel. OK?
14:27:16 Deniil daniel@onyxsoft.se
14:28:03 number6 Buffer saved.
14:28:16 Deniil I made a program that should count about 1/sec but it counts about 400/sec instead
14:28:47 number6 Heh! Go on....I can save buffer again.
14:29:22 Deniil I think I'm finished now.. ;) unless I should post the testprogram itself!

16:38:12 zerohero what?
16:39:57 number6 Warning: User giving each other "suicidal" advice here: http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?mode=viewtopic&topic_id=17274&forum=14&start=40&viewmode=flat&order=0
16:41:16 zerohero yes, they're, as usuall, making fools out of themselves
16:41:36 zerohero reinstall might be good tho
16:41:50 zerohero but i think i'll not bother :)
16:42:45 number6 Zerohero: Example: First user makes fresh install and then wonders why (when he copies his programs over) some do NOT work. Anyone who installs anything other than "purely OS" files on boot partition will need re-install of THOSE programs!
16:43:06 DeniilPrg I never reinstall or anything like that, I just make a backup, then I update my current system. It has always worked from OS3.0 to OS4.0.3
16:43:11 number6 zerohero: Support files would be mising.
16:43:30 number6 Deniil: Yes. But the users........
16:43:34 zerohero number6: yes, but ignore them, all complaints should go to /dev/null
16:43:43 DeniilPrg haha!
16:43:56 number6 Not enough room in that file for what I expect to happen...........
16:44:02 zerohero lol
16:44:12 zerohero /dev/null is like nil:
16:44:35 number6 OK. So redirection to nil. Same difference. Disaster!
16:44:41 zerohero haha
16:44:43 DeniilPrg :-)
16:44:56 zerohero yes, there might actually be a disaster
16:45:29 zerohero but, os4 team is saying a reinstall might be good
16:45:40 zerohero they can take the blow for it ;)
16:46:36 zerohero apparently zhxpk hit the news somewhere, i wonder who posted that
16:46:45 number6 Yep. If people do what I do. I have all my utilities/debug/fileinfo programs etc. on boot partition. Many require "support" files (libs: MUI etc.). They would need to be re-installed, if other users have similar setup. (Not for me. All my files are heavily commented)
16:46:45 zerohero it's not like the program is rocket science
16:47:22 number6 zhxpk? Not like rocket science? lol
16:49:32 zerohero hmm, except for the os4depot recent filelistings on some site, google only finds news on a polish amiga portal
16:50:59 number6 zerohero: I hope you understand my example of possible trouble. A user has say "AmigaAmp" on a "program" partition. But his "soundfile library for playing .wav" is in his old "libs:", NOT on the newly created "OS4 partition". What will he think when the program doesn't play .wav anymore? Who will he assign blame to?
16:51:14   <-- hnl_dk has left #AmigaDev
16:51:33 number6 zerohero: Do you understand my example?
16:51:35 DeniilPrg Therefore an update is better than clean install :)
16:51:38   --> racs (~not.tod@9b184f5.1383ffec.catv.broadband.hu) has joined #AmigaDev
16:51:40 racs hi
16:51:56 zerohero number6: i do understand
16:51:59 zerohero racs: evening
16:52:15 zerohero agreed, and update is better, for those that know what they're doing
16:52:27 zerohero actually, same goes for reinstall
16:52:36 number6 Well ssolie is recommending in the thread a "fresh" install. OK. Not a problem in itself. Sure. But does NOT solve the problem of the example I gave.
16:52:46 zerohero so ignorance is going to make users look stupid either way
16:53:10 number6 *sigh* I guess we are going to have a lot of writing in threads to do.
16:53:24 zerohero i'll stay as far away as i can
16:53:38 number6 zerohero: Thank you for your support. lol
16:53:40 zerohero users who don't know where files go, i can't stand
16:53:55 zerohero that's what amigasystems are about, imo
16:54:09 number6 New catchphrase: "Amiga...don't buy one unless you have 2 decades of experience"?
16:54:20 zerohero sounds about right ;)
16:55:44 zerohero number6: maybe you should post a "things that might go wrong when installing/updating os4 upd4"-thread
16:55:53 zerohero you hit them before they hit you :)
16:55:58 racs number6: I don't have 20 years of experience in Amiga ;)
16:56:18 number6 ??? Oh. sure. Let me do THAT too. I have nothing else to do you know.
16:56:46 zerohero hehe
16:57:05 zerohero i actually only have some 17 years of amiga experience
16:57:06 number6 Maybe a "new" forum just for the "installation challenged" amongst us?
16:57:23 zerohero sounds great
16:57:25 racs nah come on, what could go wrong? ;)
16:57:31 zerohero lol

16:57:55   -!- * zerohero hears someone mention murphy
16:58:02 racs I installed OS4 from scratch about 20 times without installer to my classic
16:58:22 racs after a few days it always worked ;)
16:58:55 number6 racs: Now taking bets on how the users will fare doing this. Current odds are 3x1 against.
16:59:51 racs won't enter into a bet :)

17:00:56 racs and what are the stakes? 20 dozen used DD floppies? :)
17:00:56 number6 heehee. Just wait till they start up programs dependent on third party libraries and such. It will be a 3 ring circus.

18:20:01 zerohero number6: with "new" i meant users not knowing where files go, or are supposed to go
18:20:16 number6 Yes. I know.
18:20:49 zerohero number6: just take helgis as an example, he's been putting some files all over his boot part

18:23:41 zerohero but that might be because the knowing ones have left the scene
18:23:47 number6 lol. Is it contagious?
18:24:19 zerohero i hope not :)
18:24:47 DeniilPrg afxgroup: Hi!

18:33:34 zerohero you should :)
18:33:39 hnl_dk ;-)
18:33:44 hnl_dk Welcome :-)
18:33:46 afxgroup hi Henning
18:33:57 hnl_dk I have tested e-uae
18:34:07   -!- DeniilPrg is now known as DeniilEat
18:34:13 zerohero ChaoZer: chain|q is usually here as well, now that he has an a1 :)
18:34:23 afxgroup hnl_dk: and it work?
18:34:52 hnl_dk Everything is working fine... untill one place where it crahes sh everytime... I need to look at that...
18:35:02 hnl_dk But everything goes well until that
18:35:11 hnl_dk Linking is also working
18:35:31 ChaoZer ok
18:39:27 hnl_dk need to eat... will be back soon
18:51:19   --> SixK (~SixK@297f4433.2e1bf8a9.fbx.proxad.net) has joined #AmigaDev
18:51:27 SixK lo
18:51:38 SixK hi ChaoZer, afxgroup
18:51:42 afxgroup hi!
18:53:12 SixK afxgroup: I still have problem to compile bourriquet out of the box....
18:53:17 ChaoZer hello SixK
18:53:48 afxgroup which kind of errors? have you downloaded las modifies?
18:54:19 SixK a conflict between global.c and libc.a for LocalBase declaration
18:54:39 afxgroup why don't comment it into global.c? or define it extern?
18:55:25 afxgroup struct LocaleBase * LocaleBase = NULL;
18:55:28 afxgroup this?
18:55:30 SixK done, but the Bourriquet crash... I don't know if the problem is related
18:57:13 afxgroup try in this way:
18:57:14 afxgroup #ifdef __AMIGAOS4__
18:57:14 afxgroup struct LocaleBase * LocaleBase = NULL;
18:57:14 afxgroup #else
18:57:14 afxgroup struct Library * LocaleBase = NULL;
18:57:14 afxgroup #endif
18:57:29 afxgroup and tell me if it work so i can commit
18:57:49 SixK afgroup, otherwise Bourriquet can actually connect to a server, search for files, download a file, download corrupted parts again
18:58:21 SixK afxgroup: I don't think we have to modify this code if itix can compile it out of the box
18:58:37 afxgroup i have problem when try to download a file
18:58:53 SixK you must ensure you are connected to a server before
18:59:01 afxgroup yes. i can search files
18:59:05 afxgroup and they are displayed
18:59:22 ChaoZer SixK: so... when wii you be joining us in ambient development;)?
18:59:33 afxgroup but when select a file and click on download, it is added to listview but i have a timeout error on socket
18:59:44 SixK ChaoZer: My skill is too low for this
19:00:01 SixK ChaoZer: And i have leaved all dev since 6 month at least
19:00:17 ChaoZer SixK: oh common ... you say that to much :)... besides.. nobody would hate you for trying :)
19:00:49 ChaoZer SixK: we are only 5 active developers....
19:01:12 SixK ChaoZer: only thing I could do is tol create hits and crashes :)
19:02:02 SixK afxgroup: Bourriquet is far more slow than Emule since , we don't try to search for new sources on all available servers...
19:02:28 SixK afxgroup: try to download small files with lot of sources first
19:02:34 afxgroup ok, but i want only to download a file.. :(
19:02:44 SixK afxgroup: small files are in high priority for upload
19:02:48 afxgroup i receive always a timeout error.. :((
19:03:04 SixK show me the log
19:03:25 afxgroup just tell me. It is normal this timeout error? so, when i reach the top of queue it starts automatically?
19:04:15 hnl_dk afxgroup: btw are you setting srcdir when you run the configure scripts?
19:04:21 SixK Bourriquet try to obtain a slot 1 time, then it has to wait for 20 minutes to try again...
19:04:54 SixK afxgroup: but show me the log you obtain... I'll see if it's normal or not
19:05:01 afxgroup wait
19:09:17 afxgroup waitSend
19:09:17 afxgroup testSend : 1 max: 0.
19:09:17 afxgroup Select Error : 13 maxSockfd : 0
19:09:17 afxgroup testSend : 1 max: 0.
19:09:17 afxgroup Select Error : 13 maxSockfd : 0
19:09:18 afxgroup testSend : 1 max: 0.
19:09:20 afxgroup Select Error : 13 maxSockfd : 0
19:09:22 afxgroup cmd not sent, timeout !!
19:09:24 afxgroup File added in Download List
19:10:20 SixK afxgroup, ok, it may be normal if Ip that Bourriquet try to connect is not online
19:10:37 afxgroup so must wait for 20 minutes??
19:10:44 SixK afxgroup, you have to open some port on your firewall too if you have one...
19:11:17 afxgroup they are opened and i have an high id
19:11:20 SixK is there sometimes where Bourriquet communicate with Emule clients ?
19:11:41 afxgroup how can test it?
19:11:55 SixK do you always have timeout ?
19:12:25 afxgroup when try to download yes
19:13:18 SixK afxgroup, if you have a PC connected on your personnal LAN, you can open a server on it and connect a PC emule client on it... then you can try to download files from PC to Amiga
19:15:15 afxgroup uhm.. could be a solution
19:15:46 SixK I'll try to open a server if you don't have one
19:15:52 afxgroup if u can
19:28:38 Alchemy ooh fun
19:29:02 Alchemy an old company i used to wok for (who i left because the MD was a stupid git and never paid anything properly or at all)
19:29:09 Alchemy made a talent spotting website
19:29:24 Alchemy i automatically told the mailer software to email me copies of any messages (ages ago)
19:29:34 Alchemy and just got one from the council telling them they need to talk to them immediatly
19:29:51 Alchemy thought it best to write back etll them what happened and give them the MD's perlsonal mobile and home address ;D
19:29:55 Alchemy and that he has shutdown to avoid debt
19:29:57 Alchemy hehe.
19:36:24 afxgroup SixK. do u have a Windows emule server program?
19:40:06 SixK yes, not running for the moment
19:41:44 SixK :)

20:21:39 ChaoZer SixK: i am
20:21:43 arc is like ambient moving over to 0s4?
20:22:19 ChaoZer SixK: maybe we should complete it together or something ... its maybe nothing for ambient directly but it would be nice to have something proper like that for morphos
20:22:30 ChaoZer SixK: anyway .. not yet :)
20:22:46 ChaoZer 2-3 very important things in ambient that need to be finished.

20:23:13 ChaoZer SixK: yeah I even tried it ;).. it wasnt very stable....
